Waterloo Region to get mobile vaccination clinics from province - KitchenerToday.com

NEWS RELEASE
***********************
Waterloo Region – Starting this week, mobile clinics from the Province are increasing Waterloo Region’s capacity to get all residents fully vaccinated as soon as possible. To help combat the highly transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant that is spreading in the community, the Region has been strongly advocating for additional vaccine from the Province.

“We are extremely grateful to the Province for sending mobile vaccination clinics to Waterloo Region,” said Shirley Hilton, Deputy Chief of Police and head of the Waterloo Region Vaccine Distribution Task Force. “This is a critical time when we need to increase rapidly the number of people who receive first and second doses. Having additional vaccine, as well as the operational support to administer doses, will get our residents vaccinated sooner.”

The first mobile vaccination clinic from the Province is already underway this week (Thursday through Saturday) at Region of Waterloo Public Health, 99 Regina Street South in Waterloo. Appointments are already full and no walk-ins spots are available.

Residents can also get their vaccine at one of 123 pharmacies in the region as well as many family practices.

Beginning Saturday, June 26, youth aged 12-17 in Waterloo Region are eligible to book an accelerated second-dose appointment through the Region’s booking system and through participating pharmacies. Today, the Province announced all youth who live in a Delta hotspot can receive an earlier second dose at the manufacturer’s interval of 28 days. Youth must book their second dose at a clinic that is offering the Pfizer vaccine.

As of Monday, June 28, all Ontarians aged 18+ who received their first dose of an mRNA vaccine will be eligible to reschedule an earlier appointment to receive their second dose.
