- Quebec reported 639 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and one more death.
- Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 398,425 confirmed cases and 11,305 people have died.
- There are 227 people in hospital (an increase of 14), including 75 in intensive care (the same as this weekend.)
- 13,794 vaccine doses administered were reported for a total of 12,635,280 doses administered in Quebec.
- 88 per cent of the eligible population in the province (age 12 and up) has received one dose of vaccine, and 82 per cent has received two doses.
Note: Quebec's Health Ministry does not publish the number of vaccine doses administered over the weekend.
Seventy-two Quebec schools will begin using rapid testing to detect COVID-19 cases starting today, but there's uncertainty about how tests will be administered.
The tests will target areas with a high number of active cases, including the Montreal neighbourhoods of Parc-Extension and Montréal-Nord, as well as Chomedey in Laval.
Despite being fully vaccinated, Liberal MNA Monsef Derraji tested positive for COVID-19 Sunday after an outbreak at his daughter's school. He will be quarantining for 14 days.
Currently, about 20 per cent of schools across the province are reporting cases of COVID-19, which accounts for about 600 schools.
Vaccination passport grace period ends
Wednesday marks the end of the grace period for enforcing Quebec's vaccination passport system.
People must present their VaxiCode app or a printed proof of adequate vaccination in order to gain entry into a long list of businesses and non-essential activities.

3rd vaccine dose
Some immunocompromised Canadians might benefit from receiving a third vaccine dose against COVID-19, Canada's national advisory board on vaccines says.
The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) is recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised Canadians should be vaccinated with three doses of an authorized mRNA-based vaccine.
Dr. Shelley Deeks, NACI's chair, said in a statement that the goal is to provide an extra shot to people who "may have somewhat lower responses to their first vaccinations."
