The provincial government says access to the new NLVaxPass app is temporarily unavailable this afternoon in order to make the adjustments necessary to meet high demand.
The app was the number one free app downloaded from Google and Apple this morning, with almost 40,000 QR codes issued as of 9:00 this morning
The influx of people looking to access the government’s Vaccination Record Portal has resulted in some slowdowns and difficulties for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians eager to get their vaccine passport.
The portal went live this morning at 8 a.m. but crashed shortly thereafter.
Minister Sarah Stoodley acknowledges that the level of interest has been high, resulting in some problems. She is offering assurances that there is plenty of time for people to get their vaccine passport.
Thank you for your interest in the new #NLVaxPass. We're aware of the issues accessing the website & phone support at this time due to significant traffic. Please be patient & remember that you have 2 weeks to add your vaccine information to the app before rules come into effect.

Minister Stoodley says they have been trying to get the vaccine passport up and running in a costly manner, and part of the issue encountered has been the fact that the MCP system in the back end is a bit older.
Residents calling the toll-free phone line (1-833-951-3859) are also encountering trouble getting a printed copy of their QR code. Minister Stoodley says they have people available to answer the phones 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
